With interchangeable pistons and cages, the Multi-Purpose Hydraulic Palm Oil Press may be used to expel oils from other oil yielding fruits and seeds.

Perforated cages are loaded from the hopper before being positioned on a platform below the pressing piston. The platform is raised by a hydraulic ram with the piston above fitting neatly into the cage and applying a pressure equivalent to about 25 mt thereby expelling the oil from the digested product and forcing it through the perforations. The press is supplied with 3 cages to ensure that the pressing operation can be semi-continuous (one being filled, one being pressed, one being emptied).

The oil flows from the press to the De-Sanding and Settling Tank (DST). The DST comprises 3 compartments. The Crude Palm Oil (CPO), having been transferred to the bottom of the first compartment, is then allowed to gradually overflow between the 3 compartments thereby naturally de-sanding the oil.

The de-sanded and settled CPO is then pumped into the inner boiling compartment of the Continuous Settling Clarifier.
